Couple weeks ago, Sunset quoted me plug wire set for 1100!! wtf?! Obviously, I bought Beru wires elsewhere for less than half. In general, they do have very good pricing though.

Yes, you have to be smart about it. Things like ignition parts, fueling parts, lighting components etc are generally far far cheaper when you find them in their Bosch/Beru etc box. (pelican is still not a good place to get these parts)

If you need oem parts in a porsche box, these online dealers are the way to go (like turbos with oil filters).

Buying porsche branded parts from pelican (or really anything) is most likely a waste of your life, but I occasionally check to make sure their pricing is still high.

best bet, find the bosch/beru etc part number, and google that.

Pricing comparisons aside, this seems like a pretty rude post about a paying sponsor (Pelican) here, or they were, the last time I noticed.

For your info, they beat Sunset on a LOT of prices recently, and I spent a ton the last two months.

how is it rude to say their price is high when, in fact, it is high? I'm not going to coddle a vendor.

Pelican big filter is $20.25
pelican small filter is $17.50

If you wish to pay $13 or 50% more for the same stuff, thats your perogative.

correct, the mahle seems to have issues with oil draining into the turbo sumps resulting in some smoking. You have to be careful not to overtighten any brand though.

You didn't stop at a pricing comment, you said a more than that-"you guys gotta stop buying....".

I didn't say they would be low on everything. I did say they were lower than Sunset, on other parts. Reference sensor, CHT sensor, etc. I also got the $1100 wire quote from Sunset.

Anyone that doesn't shop is nuts.

with this I agree, but I have found better prices on just about every part at other companies. I have found pelican to be competitive in only a few instances.

.
now then, I was curious.

The CHT Sensor is $220.42 at sonnen (same as sunset). This is in a porsche box.

Pelican wants $330 for the same part in a porsche box.

For the Bosch sensor, Pelican wants $145.

Azautohaus wants $106 for Bosch 0280130097, shipped for free.

The reference sensor is $164 at Sonnen (again, porsche branded)... its $231 at pelican.

Branded as bosch (0261210002), Pelican wants $115.75, AZautohaus has it for $56.

While it always makes sense to check, these are not small differences and add up fast.

I was comparing Bosch boxes to Porsche boxes. I don't think Sunset, et al, has that option.

Unfortunately my total is in print in the February issue of Excellence, and that doesn't include 3 oil changes in 2 weeks while breaking in the new engine .

And that doesn't include all the other bits and pieces that were done to the car over the year (Brakes, RSCS body kit, + + +...) It sure was an ugly year for me.
