When you are new, you never fail to turn over my starter.
Then, as you gracefully age, it gets harder and harder.

Some may lust for Interstate or Diehard or NAPA or Bosch.
But those aftermarket brands can never match your vent tubes, your beauty, your posh.

With your delicate plates of lead and delectable electrolytes of acid;
If you are not OEM, you break hearts and leave so very many owners flaccid.

(I shall officially copy-write that, so don't even think of swiping it)

EPIC! Glad I started a thread that got the creative juices flowing! At 993FEST 2014 there will be a short battery inspection prior to be given your "authorization to drive"...

You have my official permission to recite this poem at the battery inspection ceremony, as long as it is given the dignity it deserves.

You really shouldn't leave a battery on a cement floor, especially when you are admiring it.

Hmmmm...

in Germany, Porsche allows to use this one ...

so is Porsche out of limits in OEM compliance now??

and ....

if you dont use this

to keep your battery going, are you already out of the 'all stock' league??

(a worried CTEK 3300 user)

And most have no clue that before you were invented;
Those rocker arms required daily oiling, thus engine failure was prevented.

Your life is spent painfully squeezed between the valve cover and engine block;
Yet with nary a complaint, you Augustly watch over your oily minions at ev'ry hour o' the clock.

But when darkened stains begin to appear on the garage floor;
Tempers flare, loyalty is no more;
You are suddenly regarded as worthless, no better than a ten dollar *****.

The cover is yanked from over your head;
Leaving you exposed and naked, no longer snug on your cast aluminum bed.

Stripped and tugged and and scraped and ripped rudely from the metal's smooth surface;
With no concern at all for all tearing you in half, despite all your previous years of hard service.

Oh the indignity of being tossed in the trash amongst oily rags and cigarette butts and an old timing gear.
The last traces of the fluids you once stalwartly held back, now just an oily tear.

You my friend have found your life calling! Porsche Poet, if you publish let me know and I will buy a coffee table book for my wife for a Christmas gift. It will insure my divorce and mean a loss of at least half my P-cars...

This is a great thread!! I'm quite surprised no one has started a "Show us you battery" photo thread? I'm looking for a great looking replacement for a 7+ year old Optima red top.

Holger,

I have a few of those CTEK 3300 chargers as well as a few Optimate chargers.

I connected a data logger to the battery as they were charged up and maintained by both those chargers, and they were nothing special, and I am sure neither is a Battery Tender if I get a chance to evaluate it.

But any working charger is better than battery neglect.

Harlan, that is hardly broken in. Do a load test and see how it does. You might be surprised.

I wish Panasonic would sell car batteries. The factory-fit OE flooded lead acid batteries in our last two daily drivers lasted over 15 years each.
