Porsche OEM Battery- Why not vs. Aftermarket. I switched to OEM.
I just replaced the battery on my RSA and was inspired to buy an OEM Porsche battery. It was very reasonable from Sunset Porsche so why not go OE? When the battery arrived I was thrilled. First off its just a very clean, nice looking battery. Does it matter, no not really but I do hate when I see bright, green, orange and red batteries in these cars (not to mention the 90% I see missing the hold down and with no vent attached!) it just doesn't look right.
They fit perfectly, the vent is in the correct spot and they just flat look right!
So after installing this in my RSA I got inspired and ordered new ones for all my other cars. Now they all match.
Here is one mounted in the RSA (note wires are for my CTEK chargers):
Here is the old ugly battery before replacement in my 993:
Here it is before install:
One other item to note, they are shipped dry without acid. I like that because the battery is brand new until you fill it, unlike some that have been on the shelf for a year before you buy them. Just run down to the auto parts store and buy the battery acid first.

I went through a few Optima's in the old C2 but will stick with lead-acid in the C2S.
What is Sunsets price?

They had them on promotion when I bought the one for the RSA and it was $128. The same battery fits the 993. On my older 3.2's I had to buy a slightly different model (larger) that were $168.

My vote is for the Sears Die Hard also...and yes when they do give up the ghost, there is no questions asked and there is always a Sears store close (and they install).

Another nod to interstate batteries. Mine is 8 years old and still strong. Also, looks are unimportant to me. The battery hides under carpet.

Interstate here, had them in the SC, work great, always have outlasted their expected lifetime I.e. 60 month battery lasted closer to 80 or 90.
As long as it provides the CCA and fits well, I am not concerned with looks, as I rarely look up there.

I have always put Interstates in all my cars and always had great results. Never had one fail under warranty.
