OK, so my car may be a daily driver, but I still have a hard time getting myself out of the garage when it's raining just because it's too pretty to get dirty. I've got to hand it to you guys who drive in the snow!!!

...sorry, didn't answer your question, but that's a nice shot of your car

I checked autozone near me they only carry duralast which is the autozone name brand, optima and orig battery which they say was bosch. They dont carry interstate - if you dont mind me asking how much did you pay for it ?
did anybody here ever buy the duralast ? - its priced right and comes with a pretty good warranty !

I've gotten almost 4 yrs of reliable service from my (vented) Interstate Model MTP-91.

However, when it dies, I'll likely replace it w/an Optima Red Top.

Some time ago, Viken commented that he was a Die-Hard devotee for his 993. Since I'd had good success with Die-Hards in all my other cars, the addition of his recommendation made it a no-brainer for me. The Sears website even had a precise listing for my '96 993. I was impressed.

So I called my local inner-city Sears Auto Center, expecting to have to special order the battery for so rare a car. I provided the Sears guy with the part number and commented that "it's probably a pretty exotic battery, but I'll be happy to order it and wait."

Parts guy checks his computer for as much as 14 seconds. He deadpans, "Yeah, real exotic. We've got 15 of them."

Properly chastened, I drive over to the inner city Sears Auto Center and walk in the door. Parts guy is a pro - he takes one look at me and says, "Lemme guess; you're the guy with the 'exotic' battery, right?" I meekly offer, "Duh, yeah," or words to that effect.

Parts guy smiles, reaches down and pulls the battery off the floor, having already pulled it from stock for me. He explains that this model is also sold for many mid-sized Euro sedans, like Volvos and Bimmers, so they keep plenty of them around.

When I get home to install the battery, I can see that it's a perfect fit and that the plastic bag on top holds a wide variety of vent tube assemblies (likely for the trunk-mounted batteries in the Euro sedans), one of which is a perfect fit with my 993's vent tube.

Seems to hold a charge OK, one year on. Cranking after not touching the car for a month is fair, but not as robust after, say, only two weeks. Is this typical? Still, I do trust Die-Hards.

FYI, for my '96 6-speed C2, the part number is 22831248.

Regards to all.

Default Sears as well

I, like David, went with the Die Hard International. The vent tube is a perfect fit. Bought it recently so I can't attest to its longevity but I keep it on the battery tender if I won't use the car for a few weeks, typically in the winter. The exact same battery goes in my '98 A6 and it's a perfect fit in both cars.

Our cars have a pretty high draw even when off, especially for the alarm. I'd suggest for your prolonged down time either leave the alarm off, or better still get a maintenance charger. Your battery will thank you with a longer life.

I tried to go with the Optima Red Top, even did a test install but was unhappy with the fit. (Too tall, dimpled the carpet.) Went with the Interstate.
