I had an 07' Cayman S. I really loved the car. It drove beautifully and was absolutely gorgeous.
When it came time to sell one or the other, the decision was easy. I kept the 993.
I cried a little when the new owner drove off... and the garage just doesn't look the same now.

For me this pic says it all.

You can't recreate the low beautiful lines of the 993 *** anymore because of higher impact restrictions.

This x993,000,000.

A 993 today is not about having the better car by any set of objective standards. It's about soul. Yours, and the automotive world's.

Now, if I could just land that 993 I've been trying for since September....

Only article I've seen on a new Porsche model that starts & ends with photos of RLers' 993s
Worthy of a thread revival! Was planning to start 1 called, "Canadian RLers make everything better" re: car review, but searched & found this thread.
Say hi to your brother for me & let me know when y'all will be down south for another visit

I'm still shocked by how big the Cayman looks beside the 993!

I was seriously considering a new Cayman or going air-cooled and while the Cayman is a fabulous car, the sound, beauty and heritage of the 993 won the day. Now I just need to convince the wifey she should drive a cayman!

The new Cayman is sweet. It's the last Porsche you can get with a proper manual gearbox. In 20 years 981 Cayman S's with manual boxes will be in demand.

I don't even care about the new Caymans because i love my 993 so much and have so much emotional investment in it.

I don't even buy those 911-**** English mags anymore because I am actually, gasp, satisfied with my car.

I can't believe I just typed that. I am married to my car.

There's also comments in the article about the 993 lacking in performance but all you need is the turbo, a few tweeks and your faster than gt3

Well, the perspective in that photo (post #32) is deceptive. The 981 is closer to the camera, so it looks bigger. Yes, it is bigger, and the tail end is higher. But the perspective in that photo exaggerates...

I can take a picture of my 6 year old, and make him look like he's bigger than my teenager.
