Yeah, well those sort of books are pretty useless anyways - they are mostly regurgitated things off Rennlist and the net.
You have everything you need at your fingertips, knowledge, DIY's, etc. You can download the shop manuals (google it), look at reference sites like my own (http://www.pcarworkshop.com), and have literally hundreds of people here to talk to, some even can give accurate advice!
If you really need the reference materials, then there are other choices anyways. I glanced through the example pages, nothing new.
Patience is key to finding the right car. From what I have seen, though there aren't many 993's around, there is always a fresh supply. Keep looking, and you will find the right one. You can find good examples here, on Pelican Parts' Porsche for sale forum, eb*y, CL, Autotrader, etc.
I would stay away from any one without service records; they are worth their weight in gold for many reasons. Records tell you how well the car has been maintained, but also how poorly it was treated.
Dealer cars usually don't come with records. For that reason (and for the usually higher prices) I would stay away from dealers when purchasing.
Though I am no expert, I think there are enough reasons to walk from the one you are looking at.
