leaving stone guards off?
Has anyone left theirs off after removal? Its an S body car if that makes much difference. I got one side off, I was lucky it was not too bad. I followed the online instructions and a few videos for applying a new one. For some reason it stuck almost immediately and I used plenty of water (w soap in it). Anyway, new one looks kind of crappy. Still looks better than the old faded and cracked one though. Anyway, before I spend another $60 to teach myself how to do this, I thought I would see if anyone has left theirs off and how much wear showed up. I drive 15k a year and participate in a fair number of de events.
Thanks

The paint will be sandblasted in a few hundred miles. Any tint shop can install those stone guards like new in thirty minutes if you don't want to DIY.

Definitely on an S body. As luck would have it, I got a chip where the stoneguard wasn't! Just have the film installed if applying it yourself isn't working to your satisfaction.

Buy 'em from FD Motorsports, they even give you an extra one to practice with.

Do not leave them off the car, even a "narrow" body. They're there for a reason and note that sometime during MY 1995, Porsche increased the size of these stone guards on NB cars. Doesn't take much to come up with a reason for this. As many have said, they look quite rough after some time, without them your paint would be taking the hit.

dont want to get flamed but ive driven over 10k miles on my c2c without stone guards, and didnt have them when i bought the car. Yes, it does have paint chips etc where the stone guards should be, but what i use and you will not notice from 2 feet away is a 3M or turtle wax "lip" stick (dark colors.) Rub the included wax around it. Once you do that you cant even tell from 1 foot away. Just my 2 cents, if you dont want to spend all that money and have that plastic look on the sides.

To each his own, but there's a reason every other person recommends having stone guards on the car. Including the company that originally built the car
