Thanks. I guess I do have some of the thick PVC-like gloves for my parts washer, but they are cumbersome to use for more than a few minutes. Blech... what a crappy job to do but I just can't handle the thought of all of that crap being under my brand new carpet!

Thanks for the info. I am going to try out both the dry ice and the chemical method. I will post pics.

Besides the hammer w/ the dry ice we used a putty knife to scrape it off once frozen. What was amazing was that it was bare smooth metal left. Still shocked at how it removed everything... Curious to hear how it works on your application. Good Luck

I used Xylol and it is awful stuff. It worked better than anything else I tried: Paint thinner, 3M Adhesive remover, Lacquer thinner, MEK and Goof Off.

I had fans going, windows and doors opened and a special VOC on respirator on during use, a must if you don't want to melt your brain.

I paint brushed it on then wiped it off, but it still didn't come off easily.

I've heard one of those small steamers work wonders.
It seems like a good idea although when I removed mine, sadly I had not heard about it...

IMO worth the try, you can get them for like $30.

Here is what I did:

Step 1: buy ventilator, heat gun, scrapers and chemicals
Step 2: after 1 hour of this went to
Step 3: called lawn guy who sent over one of his employees and I paid him $12 or $15 per hr and it took him around 12-14 hours IIRC.

I think I gave him $200 and it was the best $200 I have ever spent.

I recall lots of old threads about using steamers to get the glue off.

THIS!

I paid the body shop to do it. Took one guy one day; money well spent.
