Default I bought a 993

I'm new to the forum. I just bought a 993.

It's my second Porsche. I previously owned an '02 Boxster S. I'm not exactly sure I know what I'm getting myself into. The Boxster was a great daily driver and was well sorted.

I figure the 993 will turn out to be either the best - or the worst - decision I've made on a whim.

I'll post some pictures once I get it cleaned up a bit. It needs a good detailing.

Mike

Be positive. Just remember that it is an older car so some issues are bound to pop up. Hopefully you had a PPI done which should have caught any major issues.

PPI is Friday. I have a a 48 hour return on it. I am having a Porsche mechanic who is truly an air cooled expert give it a once over.

The car had a top end re-build about 6 years ago by the local dealer. I have 10+ years of maintenance records.

I am realistic about what I bought. Part of the reason I did it was that the Boxster was already 11 years old. I figured the maintenance bills on either would be pretty similar over time.

I'm really excited about the 993, I am also just a little scared until I get some miles (and confidence) in the car. Other than a few quirks, the 986 was rock solid reliable for me.

i just bought my first 993, and my first p-car. Hopefully you got a good report from your PPI and everthing ive needed to know so far has been on this forum and p-car.com. If you have a specific problem and you know a little about the car I think you will find the right solutions.

You've already made 3 good decisions...

Buying a 993
getting PPI
Using Rennlist

I haven't owned my 993 very long but I can confidently say you're going to really enjoy driving it. Best of luck on your purchase.

Congratulations. I had a 2003 Boxster S and a 2006 997 before my 1996 993. And each car was better for me than the one it replaced.

That is the right attitude for a future 993 owner. I have seen many people coming from a modern Porsche that buy a 993 just for the aircooled hype and then get disappointed and sell it before they get a chance to appreciate the car for what it is.

Good luck and many happy miles!

Congrats and good luck on the PPI. Post some pictures when you get a chance.
