Welcome to the craziness FatMike! Car looks good. I am sure it will be much happier with an owner who cares.

I think a green Targa is fairly rare. I love the car, am amazed at your whole, long, thread, and am blown away at the results of your cleaning work. Would love to see a bunch of interior pics too if you've detailed that.

I LOVE my 993 and spend as much money on it as I can to make it "kind of perfect". It's worth it as I have no kids

I miss not having a 993. I have owned 3. I do not miss the Boxster S.

BTW, my first 993 was a Targa. Loved it. Adventurine Green is one beautiful color.

Congrats on the Targa. It looks great! How do you compare it to the Boxster S?

Good luck and many happy miles!

I am one that always wanted a 993 , had a Boxster before, an BMW E92 M3 and this car is a joy to drive, fun, responsive sounds like nothing else and it always feels like you're going faster than you are... that is better than the other way around .

OP Good luck and enjoy your new toy !

Wow, that sounds like a loaded question...

I want to collect my thoughts on that a little. Both great cars, but polar opposites.

I'll post more on this again.

Loaded question, why would you think that? I've owned 2 Boxster S's and they were my favorite cars to drive of any car I've ever owned.. Best car I have EVER driven was a 2011 Boxster Spyder.

I actually found them similar; the 993 raw and old school edgy, the Boxster S's raw but just so perfectly balanced. Curious to get your thoughts.

I was happy with the 986S until I drove a 981 Cayman S. That car blew my mind. It's the closest thing Porsche currently makes to a 993.

The 986S is a great car. Simple and spartan. Lesser build materials and quality than the 993. I did 6 years and 60K miles as a daily driver. Superior nimbleness and quicker turn-in than the 993 (or pretty much any car for that matter). The 986 drives lighter than it is. The 986 was quiet until 4K RPMs then the flat-6 sex and violins kicked in. Even the S was underpowered. The steering feel, shifter and driver inputs were excellent (even if they didn't tell you that much because the chassis is so balanced).

The 993 is like adding a 7 speaker surround sound system to your flat screen. It just changes the viewing experience with sound. My car has the fabspeed exhaust, and it burbles, whirls, snarls and snorts. The overall experience of the 993 is old-school and brutal. The steering feel, shifter and driver inputs on the 993 are flawless. I prefer the transmission on the 993 (not sure why yet).

I was ready to buy a 981 CaymanS (which is superior to the 986 in every way). Then, I test drove the 993 and pretty much decided that I had to have it.

I'll own a 981 CaymanS one day, but it will have to wait...

too funny Mike. Obviously your referring to the single digit body fat, make their own energy bar, eat beat chip's, and haven't had a donut or a beer in years...lycra clad crowd. I'm on a race team full of em, I fill the fat, old, and slow demographic.

Car is beautiful, hope to see you at Hershey next spring.

Thanks for the comparison. I had a Cayman S and really liked it, it still didn't give me the joy the Boxster S's did. It was a little too harsh to live with but nothing like the 993. I'm curious to try a newer Cayman S.
