Default Gentle Clicking - Rear Wheel

Searched the forums but to no avail. So, apologies if this is redundant. Lots out there on clunking, snapping, and harsh noises coming from rear wheel. But mine is a gentle click, almost like a rock in the tire, that increases or decreases based on rotational speed. It does not occur more frequently while loaded on a turn. And it is a very subtle noise. Does not sound like a joint or wheel bearing issue IMHO (I've had those on a few other cars and they're noticeably different).

I'm going to get it up tonight to look inside the tire to inspect for a nail but I haven't lost any pressure and it's been a few weeks now.

Other thoughts?

I had a small nail in my tire for a week - only lost a few psi luckily.

Sounds like you have something similar.

I bet it's a nail or screw. I just removed one from my wife's wheel, it did not puncture through the belts.

One quick, dangerous test. Put the rear of car on jackstands. Start, put in gear, and idle. Listen for sound in drivetrain. This may allow you to listen closer.

Stay clear of moving parts!!!!

My brother had the same noise you described, on his 993, took a while to find, but it turned out to be the constant velocity joint, we fitted a complete new drive shaft and it cured the problem
The 993 driveshafts are now superseded with the 996 ones

Any play in the wheel or clicking noise when pushed/pulled with both hands? Should not be any such on a 993 or you have wheel bearing issues. Earlier 911s WILL have a slight wiggle & click moving in/out.

If not a nail in the tire, I'd vote for early warning of a wheel bearing. They often start with a click per revolution-they don't have to go full washboard at once.

If not a nail or screw, I am with the CV joint clicking crowd. Worn and or dry ***** clicking in their cages.

It may be a railroad spike.

Avoid doing the most expensive fix first - CV joint. An improperly torqued on wheel will click. Also a loose center cap will click.

It may be a shoe or broken spring in the emergency brake hub that is making the noise. Easy to overlook.
