Callas Rennsport in Torrance, about 20 miles south .. Probably one of the top PPI shops for 993's in the country and one of the only ones I know of that can do an accurate assessment of valve guide condition

^^^ sure, there are other good shops in the area, but if I were looking at a car long distance, and Tony Callas did the PPI, I would have NO reservations buying it on his recommendations without seeing it myself.

Torrance is 20 minutes away from Beverly Hills....at 2am in the morning during "Omega Man"

Suggest you try a shop that borders BH so it's way closer, and as good and less expensive than Callas:

The shop is called "200 N. Motorworks"; run by 3 ex-Beverly Hills Porsche factory trained mechanics. One of the best shops in town and they specialize in air-cooled Porsches. Ask for Mark 310.358.5521 and you can tell him Philip in the silver C4S sent you.

I think he typed 20 miles........ STILL I agree with you about the drive time. It Used to take me 1.5 hours to go the 27 miles to work at rush hour on the 405. Funny thing, traffic and all, I miss those days at Callas Rennsport.

Ah, too true. Guess it's time for reading glasses

Either way, Torrance is not close to Beverly Hills. But Beverly Hills is super close to Beverly Hills. I may not be able to read, but I know this area super well

200 N Motorworks serviced my car when i lived up in West LA, and now Tony services my car since I moved down to the South Bay. Both are great, but i think Tony is clearly in a class by himself. But Tony is really far (by LA traffic standards), so it might be difficult to convince the seller to cooperate.

My buddy swears by [Tom] at Lucent Motors in West LA. He has a 997 turbo though, so not sure if they know 993s. but may be work looking into as it is closer to BH.

200 North Motorworks did my PPI. Great bunch of guys, affordable prices and easy to get scheduled in.

Cape Cod and Beverly Hills are awfully far away from one another!!!!

Whatever you do, DON'T use Porsche of BH for your PPI --

That's my point. If he is doing this long distance and wants the best, most thorough PPI that money can buy that leaves nothing (including valve guide failure ..) undiscovered to base a purchase decision on, then IMHO Callas is the only place to go, and worth the extra money and hassle to get there. I'd pay a flatbed to come get it and take it to Callas just for the expertise.

Getting your car serviced is an entirely different exercise and like I said above, there are plenty of good shops around B.H. for that.
