Interested to see how this turns-out, I hope well. We do offer the door stays here: 911 Door Stays / 911-531-957-00-M260

Ya! I wanted to wait till it was completely done before i posted pics. But he welded the back pilar from the inside by drilling a whole on the front the same size as the rubber stopper. So after it was done he put another rubber stopper in each side of the door.

There is NO noise/clicking what so ever which makes me happy. I have the car but his painter is getting the right paint in to match my color so they are going to repaint the outside. It doesn't look bad, deff not as clean has removing the door and fender but it was half the price and I was already in it with them regardless. He put some corrosion resistant paint on around the hole which is black.

So once it's painted up i'll post some pics.

Overall i'm happy, and they warranty it for at least a year just in case of anything. But it looks pretty strong to me, must more then a simple top weld.

Looking forward to pics, as I simply cannot picture this solution.

Well.. it's been awhile since I had my straps fixed. I forgot about it for awhile, and was pretty busy with school but finally found the time to get them painted at the shop where it was originally done. It looks a lot better painted then when it wasn't painted. After 5 months, still no clicking sound! I'm happy.

They do? That job isn't even fit for a Lada or Yugo. Terrible looking weld by the way. I can't believe these guys passing them off as specialists on Porsches.

I have to agree with Alex - that is a horrific-looking repair.

Seriously. That shop should be thoroughly ashamed of their 'work'.

Not your fault and no reflection on you.

Just amazed that those kind of shops exist and stay in business. A competent DIYer with some TIG welding skills can do a far better job.

Any body shop that has a history of working on 993. 964, Carreras, SC etc have seen this issue and know what to do.
