and I thought nobody read the fine print and grasped the profundity of lossy vs lossless music files. I really enjoy how this group doesn't let anything slide by without analysis.

The PO of my car had an Alpine head unit (with CD) and Boston Acoustic speakers installed some years back. CDs often get stuck and/or skip. I'm really not much of a car stereo guy; home stereo is a different story, as I've been an avid two-channel audiophile for many years. In the coming months, I'll likely replace the current Alpine with something more modern, sans CD. Something simple and light weight.

I just ordered this Continental radio from Tore. Inexpensive and the style matches our cars.

That's a really nice looking unit from Tore for just $140. Interested to know how its sounds vs. stock unit. And for just $75 more the OP could have had the CD player as well. That's what happens when you rush these decisions...

Nice looking unit. I looked at Continental, VDO, and of course the CDR220. I decided to give the Pioneer a try due to some of their features. Actually only paid $187 from another vendor rather than Crutchfield. I'm curious if Pioneer's ASR is as good at restoring lost data from compressed files as they advertise. We'll see; it's not critical that it does, but after going back and forth on options for two years, it was time to move forward.

Post back with what you think of your Continental once installed.

No CD player for me. With all the ways to listen to music now, it doesn't make sense to me to have to have all the seperate disks with you and the dangers of inserting/changing them while driving.
