Yes, I changed the wires (Beru OEM), all belts also checked to correct tension (Porsche OEM), the distributor caps / rotors and plugs all have been changed within last 15K.
So I took it down to Porsche mechanic and, as I feared, the inevitable ... worn DMF. The engine misfire codes were on ALL cylinders at one time or another. What I think really has convinced us it with the flywheel (besides the rattle on starting / stopping engine and w/ revs) is that there were a few misfires registered at 10,000 RPM! Now, we ALL now that's impossible, even with my crazy driving. It registered in cylinders 1 and 2 on separate occasions. That's what convinced us the DMF is on its way out.
Guess another project to consider. My wife's going to insist I divorce this car and move on to another one!

What is odd is that I drove into the area with a pickup full of swimmers for a meet in Roseville and I debated driving over to meet all of you! I also saw a speed yellow 74 RS in Roseville. Looked like a rennlister to me
