Thanks to all of the learned enthusiasts who have helped educate me on 993 ownership. This forum was truly a great help. There are some knowledgeable members here. A great resource.
I have sold my car and will now move on to something else. I have enjoyed it but I simply have a short attention span when it comes to vehicles. An expensive affliction, for sure. What's next I don't know. Thinking about a 996tt this week...

I occasionally think about making this switch myself. The upgrade in power is very tempting. But all I need to do is go out and look at the 993 and I fall in love all over again. I can only hope that some day I will be able to own both. I hope you enjoy whatever you pick up next.

I am lucky enough to have a friend loan me his (with tuning and upgraded turbos approaching 450 HP) for a couple of days while my car sat on his trailer following a death by alternator out at Chuckwalla. The 996TT was...
BIG. SUPER FAST. I ate a 1/4 tank of gas driving to/from work (about 13 miles each way....
errr....make that
OMG fast! I'd back off to 50mph and the accelerate to feel it go....in the split second it took to get exceedingly fun, I was well in to the "CHP would like to talk to me" range.
I looked at 996s when i was doing my car hunt....not the same feel and I just didn't like it. Thus, I own a 993. Enjoy your hunt, but I think a 996 won't do it... Now a 997 GT3....hmmmm.

Use care you may get what you wish for.
My brother had an SC for years, always wanted a Turbo930. Traded in his SC and found the Turbo with its low initial compression no fun to drive at low speed in traffic.
The 993 with fixed valve timing gives a surging feel, as I feel a sports car should, as it moves into the RPM sweet spot.
The newer cars with variable valve timing and early on turbo chargers have huge torque right out of the gate but I feel are not as satisfying a drive- no surge.

A 996tt is a very different animal. I went from a 993 to a 600 awhp (on 93) 996tt. The brakes, steering feel, and whole driving experience on the 996 come no where close to a 993. The extra weight of the 996tt is pretty inescapable as well.
With a complete suspension redo, and upgraded brakes and turbos the 996tt is still a top shelf supercar for very little money. I have been trying to talk myself into selling mine for a 991GT3, 997GT3RS or a Scud, but they a just so slow compared to my 996, both on the track and street.
I will be buying a 993 again when I have the garage space for it. You will miss it.

I like the whole 993 "it sounds and feels like it is going fast when it isn't" thing too much to sell.
