Going to do DIY muffler overhaul this week.

Looking for some pics from you who done it, and maybe a Youtube clip of how it sounds.

RSR and other great sounding mufflers inside pics would help this mate.

I have never seen the inside of the RSR cans, my guess is a bypass the same as the motor sound option and remove the packing to get that mechanical/tin sound that is unique to the RSR mods.

That's my best guess, I would love to see the inside of one as well.

It has not been published, and I doubt if anyone with RSR or other mufflers will want theirs cut apart.

You will need to experiment to get the sound you like. I did my own Turbo mufflers - it took several iterations to get to the sound I like - I used large hose clamps to hold the muffler together when testing so I did not have to keep cutting welds when I changed things. Given the investment of time, people will likely not publish their secret sauce.

Ted, are you sure that is the RSR?

The pic you show is a homemade muffler, you can se some of the pipes been replaced..

I hope Juha will give us all the answer..

I have cut open many RSR mufflers to convert them to Stage IIIs. I don't think it is very cool to show what Robin Sun worked so hard to create so that others can just copy it. I also wouldn't like that to be done with my mufflers, as this is how I make my living. I don't believe there are any patents on the RSR design, but I would hope that you would honor the work that guys like Robin and I put into this stuff and not give away our "secret sauce."
I do try and advise people that are doing their own work as much as I can without giving everything away

I think there is enough info on this list and others to get a good start at doing your own, and there is nothing wrong with that - not that many listers have the capability to weld stainless, so if you can do your own, experiment, it's fun!. If you do not care to do that, then go with Fisters. RSR's are passe now.

The LPM mod is a decent first step in doing your own but I really think the Fister mufflers are the way to go.

Is robin still selling the rsr mufflers?
I also think there's a big difference between opening up somebody elses work and copying it for your self (or helping a fellow porsche owner) and copying the design and making business with it.
Come on, it's not like everybody can do their own mufflers. I would make a claim that 90% of 993 owners would rather buy a new or used set. I.e. The real thing.
