There are 5 servos total if I recall, and all prone to fail.
Used will occasionally show up on Ebay.
I currently have the failed left footwell servo in "manual" mode as Texas993 suggests.
Fresh air servo failed in "open" position fortunately.
I've take a couple of them apart, but they don't show that burned look like in the pix posted.

Good to know. I thought there were only two. I did check the price at Pelican and they are well over 250.00. Unbelieveable.

That's good information to know. Not a lot of opening and closing going on in Texas summers....

Do they stay open until you select heat or do they close by default when you turn off the ignition?

I really don't remember. I had some issues years ago with a different 993. I think that I replaced the servo (cheaper then). But I do remember being able to unplug it and open/close it manually. It isn't a permenant solution because it isn't that easy to do.

That's a cool schematic. Thanks for posting. Hopefully the mixing flaps servos are not in the door sills too

Not quite - one is by the driver's left foot and one is by the passenger's right foot.

Both easy to access and remove/repair/change - just remove carpet.

I believe I got the diagram from ToreB's excellent web site, there is not much he doesn't know about this.

Thanks Tore.

Thanks x50type, you are right, I draw this. It's part of my HVAC DIY pages.
Cheers,

That thread is a lifesaver.
Which one?

I'm sure I could search for how to override a broken one to sit in the manually open position, but anyone care to share?

I disconnected the little driver motor from the servo body.
That yields access to a star-shaped receptor that will turn the servo damper blade.
This works for the footwell servos, but access to the cowl mounted servos is probably too snug for this to work.

The damper blade will not turn with the motor connected; if forced the blade will break.
