Default Brake pad wear

I've now owned my 993 for a bit over 6 years. And almost 40,000 miles. In that time, the brake pads have gone from 80% remaining (when purchased) to about 30% now.

I've never owned any car that went anywhere near 40k miles on the front pads let alone all pads. And I do a fair amount of stop and go driving. I do get what I'd consider the normal amount of brake dust. I usually clean off the wheels about every 10 days.

If you have a LWF you can probably go 60K miles between brake pad changes. Just lifting off generates 1g.

One day at the track will finish off them brakes!

I got over 80,000 miles in a 993 and so far have only had to replace rear pads.

Come to think of it, I threw a new set of front brakes not really needing to at 60k, just so that I could do a set and to see how pretty simple it is to do.

Radical needs to be at 120+ to get that kind of decel on just a lift. (Trick at Willow was to just do a lift/6-5 downshift going into T9, and see how fast you could get back on it. Ended up being the difference between a mid-1:21 lap and being over 1:23.)
