Default My 993 Rebirth Continues...

Many of you Rennlisters may remember when the roof of my 993 got crushed in by a faulty switch on my car lift. It was quite an adventure that took three years to bring the car back to better than new condition inside and out. So much so that it won first place in it's class at the 2010 Porsche Parade.

I have since pulled the suspension out to grit blast and yellow iridite all of the aluminum arms and install new 'sport' bushings. Along with this, I sent the engine and transmission out to JB Racing in Tavares, FL. They are rebuilding the engine with new valves, guides, springs, lifters, cross drilled crank mod, rods, bearings, turbo studs, rings, etc, etc...

Here are some pix.

I still have a ton of work to do here... hope to be done in a few months.
More pix will follow as work progresses.

Fantastic George. Can't wait to see the final result.

Curious whether you will be regearing the transmission and/or reducing the compression ratio to allow for more boost?

Cheers,
Joe

Wow, squeaky clean...

With all this effort, I assume you'll be making the trip up to MI for this year's parade?

Looking forward to seeing more progress pictures (perhaps you could post some pictures of the car in this thread also?).

That looks great! Can't wait to see the end result and see pics of the rest of the car.

It's really a shame they didn't clean it.

Your car just keeps getting better than new over and over again.

Wow, nice! Sometimes tradgedies turn serendipitous.

Looks impressive. I wonder though: Was anything wrong with your motor or why are you doing this?

My original clutch was starting to slip. That was the reason to pull the engine. The exhaust guides/stems were black and wet looking.... so as they say, while you are in there....

I figure that I will be driving this car hard and I don't want to pull this engine/trans again anytime soon. So lets go over everything and get this baby back to top condition.

Along with this is major suspension upgrade.

Not sure, I will try and remember to ask. I know they sent it out somewhere.
