Default GT3 Seat Install

Well I finally got around to installing my GT3 seats that I got from Rudy back in May! (Thanks, Rudy!) I've been busy with an addition to the house, so that's taken up all of my time.

I took Friday off and had a nice cool day to work on the car. I used the Brey-Krause Model R-9043 – Seat Track Adapters. Shout out to Rhonda at FVD Brombacher. She helped me make sure these would work in my car and they made the install a breeze. The only mod I had to make to the rails was cutting off the nub that isn't used on our cars.

Now I'm working with Bob at Classic 9 to get the rear seats done. On the seat backs I'll be going black on the sides and alcantara in the middle. The seat pads will be done in alcantara.

Here's some pictures from the install -

Looks very nice Chad. With the seat all the way down, is the seat height higher than the stock seat?

Hey, Nam. They are just a tad higher all the way down. I think it's because they are firmer seats and the cushion doesn't give as much. They make a HUGE difference driving the car. I feel like I'm driving a different car now. The seats are so comfortable.

Doc - I didn't weigh them, but I can tell you they felt heavier than the stock seats. This surprised me since my stocks were both electric and these are manual. My only guess is all of the air bag equipment.

Are the airbags powered up? Looks great. What shifter did you use?

They look very good, Chad. Seats tie with steering wheel really well.
But all the beige is now completely out of place to my eye. I'd start paining all vinyl black at this point.

I found that the GT3 seats (mounted without whatever the Brey Krause adapters that were used in this post) were actually lower than stock seats. This is important to me as I am 6'4".

No, the side airbags are not operable. No wiring, no side sensors, car not designed for them.

I mounted the same seats going on a year now...love 'em.
What's the advantage of the seat adapters, more adjustment range ?

I knew it!

The seat adaptors just make for an easier installation. You don't have to drill the frame rails to mount them. The stock front tabs on the seats mount perfectly with the kit and don't have to be cut off.

Yes, I'm thinking about a black out. But, I don't know if I will die the current interior. I'd like to save it in case someone wants to go back to stock one day. Maybe this is a waste of money and I should just die what is there??

Chad, you are looking at $400 for a pair of decent black door panels, $150 for center console and you'll have find black vinyl to replace the pieces behind the doors. Rear seat inner quarter panels are probably $100+. Not sure what your parcel shelf looks like.

So we are talking $800+ in black plastics. I think a can of good vinyl paint might be a better solution. If someone wants to go back to beige in the future it's easy to pick up beige pieces.

Just about to install 997gt3 seats in my 993tt. I'm using the Brey Krause adapter kit. Anyone have a good solution how to tighten the forward nuts. Can't get a socket over the nut to tighten them.

I used a dremel to open up the rail hole to fit in a socket. More info here - https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...997-seats.html
