I would call Clear Mask and see if they could custom cut....they seemed accommodating when I called them prior to purchase.......I would guess that their 3M film works great on any portion of the car..........thin which is desirable to almost be invisible, and hardness factor of the material to be durable in my experience..............
I have done two cars, one silver and my current white Porsche.
From what I understand, in the 90's and earlier they were painted and clear guards became in vogue after that.
My 2003 was clear, my 1995 had painted guards from the factory.
From what I experienced with both cars, there is no way the body's paint would peel.
There is a thick coat of adhesive to remove under the film, but no cause to worry about factory paint damage.......just use a plastic spatula or similar tool with heat applied at the same time to remove the old guard and it should go very smooth......you just have to be very patient removing the old film as mine came off in little pieces and it was a bit tedious to say the least...........
The results are well worth the work though..........takes years off the car's appearance ..........
IIRC, the ones from FD are 12 mil. Mark or Darin will probably be along shortly. Got mine from them. Be careful removing your old ones, as noted use something soft.
if repainted ever it would likely come off. Anyone in Richmond VA I'd be glad to cehck your paint with a mil guage and let you know if it's been painted. You may know carfax doesnt detect paint it's only good for public records check of any repairs. Not very accurate.
I figure easier to take off with less time, plus I like the car to look absolutely pristine.......I clean the edges of the film with a toothbrush, but on a white car it is difficult to keep perfect for concurs, etc......have won several concurs and easier overall in the preparation when they are new.........plus I am getting to be an expert in taking these off and on))
