Yes, it looks terrible. It only saves your interior, dash and keeps your car cool. It also can help kill UV, which may be important if skin issues are a concern.

If you live anywhere that gets very hot and sunny and you don't tint, remember tint costs way less than replacing a cracked dash or trashed seats. It doesn't looks so bad either.

Good luck!

I'm personally not a fan (and have had to pay to remove pre-existing tint on my 993 and a few other cars) but I can see the functional benefits if you live in a place like Houston.

I'm kind of glad I don't live in Houston.

yeah, skin cancer, over powering heat/humidity and a new interior are minor details when the aesthetic purity of you 993 windows is concerned.

I drive my porsche's ALL year around , I don't like the tint on my P cars, especially on the ones that have cashmere interior, that's my taste but everyone's taste is different, when I take mine out in the summer where is very hot here in houston I use my sun protector to protect the dash
If I was to have a black 993 with cashmere interior like michaels , I will NEVER tint the windows, I like the classic look especially when the cashmere interior pops out on the black car.

I'll be another contrarian and say that I really like the look of tint on most cars. I got busted in Rufus for having tint on the side windows and went ahead and had the tint on those windows removed. Damn it. Be wary of going too dark on the rear window... you can't see very well at night.

Something really light like 50% I think would make it look modern but not dark. If you get ceramic tint that's more important than dark non ceramic.

Llumar tint is as follows over here in uk...

5% limo...very dark
15/20%. Medium... like factory B piller back range rover/ BMW x5
35% light
50% very light but subtle but more importantly will block uv light/heat for your trim & will look ok on your 993 as you will be hard pressed to notice the tint.....

If you really don't care for the dark tint, you can still get a light tint which cuts down on UV.

Alex,
I don't know how many degrees per say... just by the steering wheel, and seat test. Before the tint (or a windshield screen), the leather and wheel would bake in the sun and were brutal to the touch. With the tint, its not an issue.

My car has had tinted windows it's whole life. Here are a shot of my seats after 16 years and 89K miles. They have never been treated or fixed in any way, just routine cleaning. I'd say tinting really helps preserve the interior.

Sorry for the crappy cell pic, but you get the idea.

I purchased my Targa from Florida. The prior owner had the car tinted, including the glass roof panel, and I love it. It gets hot here, too. Tint is not too dark for me!
