Default windscreen replacement - rust discovered (pics)

As posted before, I'd had the car a few days and got a stone to the windscreen while driving necessitating a replacement under insurance. When they took the screen out today they found rust that needed to be addressed before the new screen is fitted. Happily, the dealer who sold me the car (and who is also the local Porsche dealership doing the replacement) is happy to wear the cost of repair. It's a blessing for me - this might have taken a lot longer to become evident had I not needed the screen replaced.

Unfortunately a known issue. It is most likely not the first windshield and when they replaced the last one, they did not follow the OEM manual. You need to see a good body shop to have it fixed. It is not too bad as there are no holes at this time. GL.

Yeah, that is not biggie - a good shop can repair it no problem. Its very very common and part of the wonderful drainage systems built into our cars.

Yep, the windscreen rust problem is something I read about very soon after starting to research 993s in preparation for buying one. This rust though, would only be visible if the trim rubber is popped completely out, so I'm very happy that the windscreen had to come out and it was found. It's at a very good body shop right now getting fixed - they will be repainting the whole panel in front of the screen and behind the bonnet line, where the wipers are mounted.

The car has been resprayed at some point in its life. I'm assuming that they painted these small bits of trim.

Hi
It is a 10 minute per side to replace the plastic trim bits, between the plenum and Guard.
I guess that these bits will be replaced when the rust is fixed and panels painted.
Will the panel shop, paint the A pillars, plenum, roof, C pillars and the panel at the bottom of the back window?
If it is done this way there will be no blend lines.
As this is what the Porsche repaired do when the rust is fixed here in Australia.

Also the little plastic caps are missing from side mirror screw holes.

Good Luck
