Default Holy Sticker Sticker Shock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought a 1996 993 C2 about a year ago after several happy years with a Boxster S. I've done many of the usual mods (Fister Stage 2's, Bilstein HD's and MO33 Springs, Stereo / Speakers, Nose / Tail Respray), new brakes / rotors all around, new belts, filters, fluids and have addressed a half dozen or so niggly issues since the purchase. Now I am down to 2 or 3 little items that I'll hopefully take care of before year end, one of them was the underhood sticker listing codes and options.

For whatever reason my car did not have it there, the one in the service manual has been partially / mostly cut out also. I found a few threads here and followed the advice and contacted SunCoast to see about purchasing a replacement sticker. They replied back they needed the VIN which I responded with, later in the day Laurie replied with an answer to my request.

Ladies and Gentlemen, my advice to you who still have the options sticker intact.............TAKE GREAT CARE WITH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Suncoast stated:

"This is an item that is a special order from Porsche, and may take up to a few months to receive. I can get you a factory reproduction of your sticker for $242.50."

I'm still on the floor.....................

Didn't someone come up with a template/font to replicate the sticker?

In any case, 242.50 seems like it could be better spent elsewhere.

Do you have the original owner's manual? The sticker will be on page 1. Take that to Kinkos and voila!

Is it in the manual or the warranty/service booklet?

Your car is 16 years old and you've modified it. Why is the option sticker significant?

Jes' wonderin'...

I would go to another dealer to see what's the deal on it.

That sounds way over board for what it is. I can see $50-100 since it custom, but this is ridiculous!

Yet another reason to refer to them as "stealers"...

As prickly as we p-cars owners and buyers are, I would think the money would be well spent when it comes time to sell the vehicle. The dealers aren't stealer's per say, I'm sure the majority of the cost is set at the factory for the most part.

If Suncoast or whomever, gets you an original sticker under the hood for your 993 from Porsche factory, I will send you a paypal for $242.50, to pay for your sticker.

Reproduction is the key word George old chap!

"I can get you a factory reproduction of your sticker for $242.50."

Dealer can get all the codes easy enough, maybe some clever guy they know has an old dot matrix printer and is knocking them up in his bedroom!

I would be surprised if you could get this original sticker.
The printer that generates these sticker, that is the unique information is a Dot matrix and I don't think they are available any more.
Plus the sticker general information is printed on printing press, why would Porsche keep the stickers from a 15 year old car.

What other car company could supply an original one of paper sticker 15 years after manufacture.

I'm with geolab I am almost happy to pay the 242.50 if the dealer can supply the sticker.

In Australia these sticker are worth a fortune on the 993 as this is a way to tell if the car has had a frontender, as you can not get another sticker to replace the damaged one.

Could a dealer sell a reproduction part without getting into issues with Porsche?
Sounds a bit shonky, for a Porsche Dealer
