Default My best buddy Kai died today

While in Hawaii on business today, my wife called to tell me that our beloved Kai passed away this morning. He wasn't having good days these last two, and I feared a tough decision looming when I get home Friday night. I was yearning for his wagging tail and to give him a big hug, but instead, my heart is broken.

We found each other in March of 2011, and I think we made his life wonderful these last 18 months. But, he also brought us a lot of joy. We really don't know how old he was-our vet thought he was at least 12 when we got him. If we'd not have found him, he probably would not have made it in the shelter another couple of days.

It wasn't a lot of time together, but we made it count. These are some of the pics I had on my phone. I miss him so, and our lives will have a big hole.

Ed,

Sorry to hear the bad news. I know where you are coming from. I am still hurting from my grandmother's passing and it's been over a year now. My prayers are with you.

Ed,

I'm VERY sorry to hear about your loss and I know full well how crappy that feels about now. Words simply do not convey the level of grief from the loss of a close and loyal buddy.

I just lost my buddy Kirby after 8 years a few weeks ago and its a big empty hole so I understand what you are going through.

Looks like you provided your pal with a very nice old age. He looks like was having the time of his life, which he was. You rescued him, and it looks like he rescued you too.

So sorry for your loss, Ed.

Ed, that's a beautiful face. I'm sure that both you and him were better for knowing each other, however brief a time it happened to be.

I really believe all dogs go to heaven. He's in a good place.

Thank you all. It certainly was a two-way relationship. Today has been very tough, to say the least. At least being in Hawaii gives me the excuse to have my sunglasses on all day. I hope nobody minds me wearing them on the plane flight home tomorrow.

Steve-I'm very sorry to hear of your Kirby.

Dogs are the foundation of heaven, I'm sure.

sorry to hear about your losses. I miss our family dog aswell, sad moment forsure.

On the brightside of things, Atleast you can look at it like this... some animals do not get the love and attention they desurve and you can be sure you did give that one a great home, love, care & a family!

Sorry for your loss Ed, hopefully he didn't suffer and it went quickly.

I had to rush home yesterday to beat the kids off the bus, our 17yr old cat was dying and I didn't want them to find him. Rough night, never fun. He was still with us this morning, we're just hoping he goes quickly and quietly - hate the thought of bringing him 'in' as the car is stressful and he's had enough back / forth this past week - we just wanted him to go @ home and for all of us to see him & be with him.

Ugh. Kids are taking it well at least.

Good luck to you as you return home. He is in a good place now, peacefully.

Paul

So sorry to hear of the loss of your friend. I've been owned by 14 dogs, usually in multiples, in the last 37 years and as you imply, there's no more loyal friend to have. Here's an image of our current pack with my grandson. The only place they don't follow him is into the pool!

I am sorry to hear of your loss. The immense grief we feel at the loss of a great companion is the price we pay for all that they gave us. It is the best deal we will ever make. Good luck.....Chris
