Soo sorry for you as well as your wife Ed. Loosing a best buddy is one of the worst feelings, but know that the both of you filled his life with joy from the moment he was yours.

Thank you all. I love seeing all the pics of your families.
The goofy pic is my favorite of him. I called him Chupacabra for a week after that. I got home from a trip on night with him in bed on my pillow. He had that dazed look until he realized I was standing there. Great watchdog-not!
The one by the BBQ is when he was watching me cook, and just started going nuts, as if to say "hey-I like mine rare-don't overcook it!".

Ed,
Really sorry to hear this. As you know, I'm a lab lover myself and Moose is my best buddy. I don't even want to think about when it's his time. Love the pictures.

Sorry to hear the sad news. We lost our Sharpei this summer, after 12 amazing years.

Ed, very sorry to hear about your loss. I know what you are going through as I have lost 3 dogs this year myself that all meant a lot to me. My wife had to have our nearly 14 year old German Shepherd, Sabine, put down a few weeks ago as her health was starting to decline rapidly. I am currently away in Germany and was not there to say good bye or to help my wife with the process. We got Sabine shortly after we got married so she was a big part of our lives. Earlier this year my 6 year old Boxer, Stella, suddenly and unexpectedly dropped dead. She was a daddy's dog, my favorite. One minute I was surfing R'list while she was demanding that I go downstairs and feed her and a few minutes later I found her lifeless at the top of our stairs. Then we had a rescue Boxer that we took in that had some unpredictable serious aggression issues. We felt it that it would be in his best interest and ours to free him of those issues. It was a decision my wife and I did not take lightly and even though he was only with us a few months we miss him deeply as well. He was the most obedient Boxer we've ever had. 2012 was not a good dog year in the Van1 household. It's all up to the little man, Nikos, now. Nikos is a stray dog that I rescued from Crete, Greece a few years back.

Hey Ed -
Sorry the hear of your families loss. Your pup Kai has left you with fond memories, gotta luv the photos in the thread. The picture where he's looking out the rear side window of the car is a classic "hundt picture", I think its about 9 or 10 frames in. Again,, sorry for your loss.
Our Condolences.

Floating around on our local list, as another guy had to make the one-way trip with his dog of ~15 years.
