My condolences to you and your family. There is a special place for people like you who take in older dogs so they can enjoy the last years of their lives with a loving family.

Hang in there Ed...we had to put our Aussie Dusty to sleep after having him for almost 14 years...still miss him but as time goes on you realize what a great time we had together and this is what I remember.

Really sad for you and your wife Ed. I agree with the sentiment above that you should both take great comfort in giving Kai a great end to life.
We have 2 beautiful black american labs - brothers from the same litter (couldn't decide between them, so took them both).
They make us laugh every single day.
RIP Kai.

That is really sad, but knowing that you made his life, not just better, but worthwhile and purposeful, will hopefully bring you some comfort. It is obvious in your pictures that Kai had a wonderful home.
I love the pic below. What was he telling you? To work faster? Harder? Get me a treat?

^^^^^ Or was this one earlier this year when you came home only to tell him you sold Ruby?
Karen saw your Facebook post (I hardly ever go on there anymore), and we were both so sorry to hear of his passing.

Ed, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your beloved dog. As anyone who has clicked on the link in my signature knows, I have a pretty good idea of how you feel. There'll be a big emptiness in your life as you think about Kai during the day and night. He looks like he had a huge personality, and he looks like he was incredibly happy with his pack.
It will get easier, small comfort now, I know. I wish you and your family peace and comfort over the coming months.

So sorry to hear that. What a tough day. Our lab is 10yrs old and I know his days are numbered. It will be a terrible day when he goes. There is nothing better than getting home and seeing that tail wagging.

Sorry for your lost Ed.......My Max had some rare cancer when he was two...... it was the hardest thing in the world to put him down........but in my heart within those two years, his life souldn't have been better.........you gave Kai a great life even though short but he'll always be grateful.....

I'm sorry for your loss Ed. It is so unfair that we get such a short time to spend with these beautiful animals.

I am sorry for your loss.
Take solice in that you did a special thing for this dog by taking him in and making his life better. The look on his face says it all.
It takes a special person to help out an older dog.
We have 3 rescue goldens. Our oldest is 12 and every day with we have with her is special - we got her at 3 months old.
Sandy (12) was in a dog pound which was a kill shelter - we got her a 3 months old.
Rowan (10) was abused in a puppy mill - we got him at 2.
Danny (8) was wondering the streets.
