Default Yet another PSS9 Question....

Hey folks..!

As some of you may remember, I installed PSS9s several years go in my '95 993 C4, and, much to my horror I discovered after my last DE that the RF is leaking.. I've been trying to figure out if these can be rebuilt or individually replaced? (yea - I tried the "search", but..? )...

Not sure of the options here, as I can't even find them for sale without the springs (my springs, of course, are fine..?) - or individually by corner?

Thanks for any help!!!

Parts are no longer available and can not be rebuilt. Call Bilstein and see what they will do for you.You may be able to get a partial credit towards a new PSS10 system.

Hi John,

My RF is leaking too... Unfortunately from what I've read here Bilstein would not rebuild PSS9s any more. They claim they don't have the parts and want you to buy two new PSS10 front ones. I really hope that's not the case.

There was a guy parting out a 993 C4S on Ebay recently who was selling the right front PSS9 for $400 on Ebay. I failed to act fast enough.

Definitely call Bilstein, they have been really helpful in the past, great customer support. I had a pss-9 with a bent rod several years ago, and while the rod is not a "normal" rebuild part they were able to make a new one for me.

Well I just called Bilstein. They said that they DO rebuild PSS9s for $125 and the turnaround time is 6-8 weeks. They need to be sent to the Poway, CA facility. The guy to speak with is Juan Alvarez at 858-386-5900 x5926. I'll be sending mine in December when I'm done driving the car for the season.

$125 is the cost per corner.

Let us know your experience, John. This will definitely need to be done on mine when the time is right. Thanks for the research, ilko.

Thanks a million for laying the groundwork on this Ilko!! I have NO IDEA why it didn't even cross my mind to call Bilstein - but, then again - I can hardly remember what I had for breakfast..

John, if you are the original purchaser of the shocks they may be covered under warranty. I "inherited" mine with the car so that's why I'll have to pay a fee. When I spoke with the person in their NC facility I specifically asked if they still have the parts to rebuild PSS9 and he said absolutely yes. Then gave me Juan's direct number. I hope it all works out, please keep us posted since I won't be far behind you...

Having some experience with this, Bilstein can do rush orders for a 20% add-on as we do this all the time for our race cars. Takes about 1-2 weeks.

At one time, you could get expedited service for mo money....shortens turn around time around.

Glad that the ole no rebuilds for PSS9s is finally put to rest.

John, as was mentioned above, there is a lifetime warranty if you purchased them from a authorized distributor and have receipts.
