Selling Regrets
#31
My motto...there's always another car. Unless you have a sentimental attachment to the car - which it doesn't sound like you do - sell it and buy another when the time is right. I've never been attached to any car and I change cars frequently with no regrets. It may cost you a little more to get another one in the future, but not enough to prevent you from doing so. I just bought a 2012 Grand Sport Corvette and am very happy with my purchase. When I'm tired of it, I'll sell it and get something else
+1. You got it right. And you will have another beautiful 993 again too.

No regrets now.
I owned my 98 993 before I sold it to my friend. Since that time, Ive owned 4 997s inc a TT. Nothing is even close to my 993. After some bribery, I bought it back a few months ago only because he wanted my C4S Targa.

Thinking outside the box... do you have any friend or family member that could take care of the car for you by "renting" it and you can get it back in 6 years? Someone who you can trust and not abuse it. Perhaps $100- $200 per month and using the funds for maintenance expenses?
Boy, if you were closer, I would volunteer or be a renter! I was wanted a cab as an extra car. Good luck with your decision, only you will know as there are too many factors to consider.

Sold my 993S with no regrets but I replaced it with something I prefer so it's easy not to miss.
If the only reason for selling is living on the island and you know for sure you are out of there in a few years than I would keep it.
Fact is it won't lose any value. In 6 years you very likely will get more $.
In the mean time look at it as a beautiful sculpture, some of those cost more than a 993 and you can't drive that either. At least you can sit in it
