I've been looking recently at outdoor covers for my Audi. Covercraft and Coverking seem to be the best ones I've found.

I have this one too. I use it daily. I have had "it" for 3 years. I quoted it
because it was replaced after 2 years (4 year warranty) because it was
falling apart. The sun will eventually destroy it and rips and tears will appear.
Fortunately, the Covercraft repair shop is 1 mile from where I work in Canoga
Park. I have been there many times to have the seams resewn and panels
replaced. They've been good to me and don't charge anything for the repairs.
After one more year I will probably have to pay for another cover. I like the
lightweight of the Wearthershield HP but might look at the HD version which is
heavy material. BTW I am currently using a Cayman cover which I had before
the 993 and it works perfectly. Here's a pic:

That's awesome good news for me! I've dealt with one cover after another, knowing full well the sun down here in SoCal will simply eat through in scarce over a year. But I am near the SF Valley ...local to Covercraft. That clinches it for me; I now know what cover to buy as mine for my Trackmeister is at "that" point. Thanks for the feedback and info, Bruce!

Covercraft falling apart after 2 years. That doesn't sound good. Especially, if one has to ship it back and forth for repairs.

Am I missing something?

My usage of the cover is probably not typical, at least for a Porsche owner.
My car is a daily driver and I have no garage or carport. I take it off in the
morning, drive to work and put it back on. If I drive to lunch, then another
cycle of taking it off and putting it back on. Then, when I leave work I take
it off and put it back on when I get home. It's a lot of work, but worth it
to keep the car out of the sun, which is the harshest element in my
environment. When it rains (rarely here) I don't use the cover.

Based upon 3-1/2 years usage experience , the WeatherShield HP fabric will
only last 2 years or less when used daily in the harsh sun environment of the
San Fernando valley. I thought that the material should last at least until the
warranty period is up (4 years). But Covercraft do honor the warranty and do
the repairs for free. But I live close enough to drop it off and pickup same day.
If I had to ship UPS then this would not be a workable situation.

I wash it about as often as I do the car, maybe every 3 weeks or so depending
on the season, with Simple Green which is what they recommend. I dry it only
about 5 minutes on medium heat. They say this is correct care for the cover.

I just had it repaired 2 days ago and now another rip has appeared in the top panel,
so back it goes. One thing I really like about it is it is very light, like Gore-Tex,
and folds to a small bundle for storing in the trunk. As I mentioned, they have a
heavier fabric called WeatherShield HD which should stand up to the sun better,
it has a 5 year warranty. I will reevaluate the options when this warranty runs out.

I'm saying this not to try and sell anyone on this particular cover, but to set
expectations so that if you use a cover daily in a harsh sun environment, and take it off
and put it on twice or three times a day, and wash it regularly, it will wear and
you will need to repair it or replace it so look for a local shop you can work with to keep it usable.

Bruce, Thanks for the detailed explanation. I too will be using it for my daily driver and I am also without a garage or carport. I can emphathize, mine is no garage queen, its a driver, but I want to keep it up as best I can given the circumstances and use.

I recently bought the Stormweave from California Car Cover. I'm verry happy with it.
