Default Inside a 993 Clock spring

Recently my horn stopped working and I suspected a loose wire in behind the airbag from the last time I was in there. After pulling it all apart and all connections checking out it was obvious that the contact was being lost at the "clock spring" part #993.652.211.00. (the alternative is part# 996.652.211.00). I had replaced my 993 one a while back with the 996 one from a racecar that was stripped out. This time I was curious to see what was inside of the part as I couldn't find any pics on the web inside one. So here some are below. It is clearly not something you would ever want to repair. Just thought this thread may be helpful if anyone did a search as I couldn;t find much when my airbag light came on and then the horn stopped working.

Thanks for posting. Not so much a spring, but a wound up ribbon cable.

Maybe not, but at that price, I certainly would give it a try. That flat cable is available from electronic supply sources. All I would need to know is the size.

Thanks for posting.

3600mm long and 20mm wide. The issue though is the cable is compress stamped into the grey plastic plug thingy. I'm not sure you could successfully pull it apart and reassemble/stamp.

I just pulled it apart. It would be repairable but not pretty (if you know what I mean). The grey plastic plug is kind of molded shut so you virtually have to split it to get it open. If the repair was successful it would never look mint. Here in NZ it is a $500NZD part and from a race shop I got a used one for $100NZD. I'd rather just replace than repair given there are 2nd hand ones floating around.

Great pics!!!!!

I just get mine off as I got an airbag light on and KTS is showing power supply failure.

As you exactly wrote I was trying to find a previous fellow that wanted to know "what's inside"!!

Now my aim is to fix it!! Wish me good luck
