If (when) I remove the AC from the car, there just might be enough room for 50-60mm thick fan. That is a splendid idea!
I will also have to try and seal the cooler surroundings to the wing so that all air is forced in trough the coolers.

Couple of quick cellphone snaps:

I secured the grille temporarily with a screw in the middle because I didn't trust it would stay there at 130mph... Better to have one ugly screw than a $400 grille under the car behind you...

Come one man, at least get a sharpie and color it black!

Car's looking good, you need to take some serious shots at the shipyard, there's perfect backgrounds there... Maybe at the old metal shop?

Thanks!

Moment of truth...I just did the first real test run...result is....COOL!!!!!

Unbelievable! It is abt. +15*C outside and no matter how hard and frequently I pushed the car, I could not get the IAT over 20*C... Now that is really something!!
With the water/air setup, the IAT would rise to 40-50*C upon even a quick full throttle acceleration.
It is just ridicious how cool the charge air can be...

After driving, the supercharger is extremely hot to the touch, so is the driver's side end of the intercooler, but going in the direction of flow, it very quickly cools down and the center of the intercooler is already cool to the touch (not warm at all), and there is still another GT2RS cooler to go trough... I am at loss of words...

Very nice results Juha! Again confirms what we already knew all along, aircooled is king...watercooled sucks;-)

Out of curiosity, did you also happen to measure the pressure drop across the IC??

Ditto!!

I don't have a pressure sensor before the IC but because I am interested in that too, I think I will install another combined IAT/MAP sensor before the IC.
That way I can see the temperature and pressure difference accross the IC core.
With a quick glimpse I saw about same boost pressure as with the old setup. The good thing about the SC is that I can raise the boost by switching a smaller pulley...

You could have these easily duplicated by any competent shop, and it really wouldn't be that expensive when you can leave all the engineering work out (because i have already done it).

Let's see:

TPC supercharger kit 9k
Install 1,5k
Gt2rs coolers 1k
Fabrication of cooler and charge piping 1k
996 throttle body used 200
Gt2 wing + prep and paint 1,5k

And if you want go all the way like i did add:

Motec + adapter harness 3k
Wastepark coils + amps + plug wires 1k
Dyno time 500

Juha, You Da Man!!!!!!!!

Awesome results!!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing and taking the time to snap pix, etc...

Now that I am living in FL, I think I need to cool my TPC Supercharged P-car down too.

Hmmmmmmmm ... I don't believe even a Secan can do this. Very informative.

Could be the difference between an IC in a turbo vs a SC?

^^ No, I don't think so. I'm guessing that technology has simply moved on since the 90's. There have been similar posts on the TT board; Juha's just has more analytical information in it. Good stuff. Makes one consider the possibilities, and ask the question: would similar results be obtained if the ambient temp was say, 35*C instead of 15*C?. Now that would be seriously good stuff!
