I wanted to revive this thread since there are some good ideas. I had the car painted a couple of years ago and the first attempt at the sunroof seal did not turn out right so I decided to try again. My error is that I put the felt in about 1/32" - 1/16" higher than the body/sunroof. It made the seal bulge too high when the sunroof was closed. The second attempt was a lot more successful. I installed the felt about 1/32" - 1/64" below the roof. Now when the sunroof is closed and the seal is compressed, the seal "bulges" to be flush with the sunroof panel and roof. There are a lot of good techniques in the previous posts so I'm just adding what I used.
I used a roman ogee router bit to create the profile on the ends of the wood. It allows pressure to be applied to the part of the felt that is flat against the body's sunroof frame and not on the tube that runs in the felt.
I used shims agains the back of the body's sunroof frame with a wood spacer as a way of applying pressure as the glue cured. For the sides I used the same wood pieces with a bar clamp braced on the other side of the body's sunroof frame . There is a previous post with a good idea of using a section of pool noodle for the corners.
Hopefully others will post their techniques in an attempt to come up with a better method of installation. Installing the felt is an art.

Getting ready to order parts to do this job, I definitely need to do the front and back felt seals. I haven't seen mention of replacing the rubber seal on the sunroof. So did you replace it or it seemed fine so you left it?
Saw this video on removing the sunroof panel:
I have a week off in October when I will be attempting the repair.
