No question in my mind for that money a Mazda CX9, my wife could not be happier... has to be the Luxury Touring model with the nice wheels. This is such a great truck, lots of room, great ride, nice interior, handles well and has some pep.... won suv of the year many times.
Just bought my wife a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Sport. The JK is nothing like the older Jeeps.
For $36K new, it comes with removable hard top, bluetooth, 3.6 (mercedes designed) 5sp auto, 4x4 etc, etc. Ours had the optional 3:73 gears and a couple other extras.
My wife has been driving an 07 Escalade before this, and she absolutely loves it. It rides real good for an off road vehicle, and with hardly any mods, we have hit level 4 trails at our local off-road park. It really has surprised us both how much we like it.

My girlfriend has the CX-7 (which I believe Mazda will be discontinuing--CX-5 replacement) and it does have come pep with that 4 banger turbo!!
For those interested, we got down to the very end and the Volvo XC60 R-Design and Audi Q5 were the front-runners. The Volvo had the slightest edge and we went to the dealer to get a deal done. Didn't happen. I was pretty unimpressed with their commitment to make it happen and we couldn't find common ground. The end result was we walked. My wife has a 2013 Audi Q5 in Scuba Blue on order now.
P.S. I came across 3 moose on my mountain bike ride the other day and I DID NOT roll my bike over!

LOL - notice you didn't buy a jeep though!! So much for hyperbole!!
Jeep was too "trucky".
Cayenne was too expensive.
Touareg was too... I guess I don't know why she didn't like it.
Tiguan was too small.
Escape Titanium was great, and almost got the nod.
RDX was too... unavailable to drive. And the colors were boring.
