Doubt it - I have not seen a RHD RS advertised in Japan.

I think that Riviera Blue RS is M002 with aftermarket roll cage and Clubsport spoiler pack.

Derailed or not this was a very interesting thread with some mighty fine pictures from the OP. The day after my lottery win I'm searching for an RS. And I think Bill is collecting data for his definitive 911 book.

Is the cadmium plated engine carrier original to RS models or should it be black as in the base cars?

In Japan, you could order your car as LHD or RHD. Many went as LHD which was considered cooler, especially in the more exotic versions. There are some great videos of contemporary races of 993RS vs 355 vs NSX vs Skyline etc on YouTube.

A real unmolested RS/CS is very hard to find, even in Europe. I looked at one a few years ago in yellow, totally original with 40k km. Unfortunately it had been in an accident.

It had the single down door brace, fabric covered Recaros and otherwise no trim, painted interior. One other slight funny is that the door pull tab is run up to the door close handle to avoid the cage - it looks like such an after thought.

If I ever find "the holy grail" which is a low mile original CS, I will buy it. Unfortunately with every passing month, the odds get longer.

Interesting, thanks for the info

Yes .. I've seen that before on a GT2 and wondered why it was done that way .. but the door was open so I didn't make the connection.

"1 year temp DOT permit"

So, for one year, he can drive this on the street? What then??

How do you get this permit? Could it be done, say on any RS version??

Then he and the car go back to Sweden, I assume.

For some reason, everyone seems to be trying to make their C2 or RS look like an M003 RS CS, with varying degrees of success?
Far easier to just buy the real thing!

No, that's something the owner did

993RS did have it's own unique (but still black) reinforced engine carrier and solid mounts

I thought so too but then saw this RS carrier on Jackal's site (http://www.jackals-forge.com/lotus/9...scarrier.htm):

Certainly makes a good solution to the problem of 'how do I fully paint / rust proof my engine carrier after adding the Rennline brace'..

Re: importation of non-US models - see -> http://www.epa.gov/otaq/imports/forms-resources.htm This would be a good problem to have. Only 4 more years before 1995 models qualify for exemption under the 21yr+ old rule.
