Looking For A Hoe
Not exactly what the title suggests, but my current hose has a pin hole in it that causing a major oil spill after the engine heats up. The hose connects from the oil filler tube to the engine. The pet diagram that the PO and I viewed suggests the wrong hose (3 ft in length and plastic). Now I have to send the basted thing back. But my actual hose is made of a cloth material (about 6/7" in length) and wrapped in a spiral wire. So does anyone know what is the stock # of this hose is or if I can just use a regular oil hose from the auto store?
Thanks,
Ken

That looks like the vent hose that connects to the transmission. It blows hot air into the air box from the flywheel / clutch area (not Porsche's best idea). The hose itself is not the source of the leak. There is something leaking onto it. The plastic flexible hose in the PET manual is from the filler cap to the oil tank and is a PITA to replace. You have to pull it through a small passage way in the body of the car down to the oil tank behind the fender liner (passenger side).

Ok, that's interesting. Because when the car warms up and I pore new/fresh oil into the engine, they both drain out. Any ideas?
Ken
That is the trans vent as bobt said above
When you are adding oil, if you have spillage it will collect in the engine tin and run down the outside of the metal pipe noted in your pic
The fitting on the trans side looks dry inside.
The metal vent rube that goes up through the engine tin should be dry inside also

Thanks for all of your replies. Then maybe I possibly did buy the right part after all. But before I attempt to replace the oil filler tube, I'll implement an Andreas engine clean-up effort first, pure some more engine oil in the engine and see where that leak originates.
Now has anyone taken the old one out? Hopefully it's easier than installing it. And I wonder what happened to the old one in the first place? Is this a common occurrence? Could it have melted/deformed in a weakened area or maybe it's just a defected part? Who knows. With this bucket of bolts, maybe it's headed to the 6 x 12 plot I'd pick out next to the willow tree.
Thanks,
Ken

when you pull the old one out attach a pull cord using some 16 gauge wire. When you pull the new tube through you have to twist it a bit. Keep turning it as you make progress. It also helps to loosen the oil tank. BTW if your getting oil inside the vent hose it is going to get into the clutch which will create another job that you may not want.

Big A, brother you are just to funny. I may need your assistance; so stay tuned. I'll start on it tomorrow and provide updates along the way.

Ken thought I should update this thread....
I popped by Ken's house yesterday to talk shop and take a look at this issue. To make a long story short, the car was overfilled by 2.5+ quarts. I pulled out 3 quarts, let the engine reach operating temp, and then slowly added just over half a quart to bring the level to the 3:00 position.
Mystery solved. Ken happy. All's well.
