I had reservation about the PDK transmission, but after driving several cars with the dual clutch technology, I must say,if it is is speed and smoothness you want, then it is the way to go. The technology was way beyond my BMW SMG transmission in the M3.

I am with you on that. I love the way the current Cayman looks. Hope the new one is just as cool.
Has anyone driven the new Boxster? Does it feel big and cumbersome when it is rolling? Just curious because so many new cars feel that way to me--too big, too heavy, too many electronics just to keep up with it all. (Although I guess more power is usually not a bad thing.)

I love the new Boxster and would own one in a New York second if I didn't mind parting with 80k.
But for less than half that I could have a 993 cab, and for about a quarter of it I could have a 964 cab. And wouldn't have to lose any $ on depreciation.

Best looking roadster out there IMO and I think it looks even better in person. And yes the price is getting up there now, it doesn't seem so entry level.
Some pics taken from the 987 forum, H&R springs with new wheels...improves on something that looks great already!

My wife and I went to the launch party a few weeks ago. Didn't get to drive it, but the exterior is awesome looking. Interior of all Porsches have gotten to luxurious for my tastes however.

IS the price not so entry level? Who here was around in '96 when the OHWHATABARGAIN original Boxster was introduced at $40K. Which pretty quickly became 10-15% more than that. So I configure one how I'd justify it and it comes to about $53K. Oh, right. Not a spiffy "S" with all the this-and-that frou-frou, and performance that you'll never see in street driving.
That said, after my wife really took a liking to the $80K+ "S" sitting on the showroom, outside was a decent enough looking '08 Turbo Cab with an ask of a few K more.
We concluded the visit with me telling her that the sales tax on either would cover me rehabilitating the 4S AND fixing the crash damage on the yellow car. Now I just need the motivation to think that I'll have occasion to drive either again...........

Yes, the 987 Boxster (which is only slightly bigger than a 986....mainly on the interior) is bigger than my 993. Especially on the inside. And the 981 is to be bigger than the 987. So, I can can see how 993 owners would think the new Boxster is humongous.
I've always said, being in the 993, with the windows down, sunroof open, intimate cabin space, sunny day, small A-pillars.......is about as close to being in a cabriolet as you can get.

Personally, I could never spend $80K on a marque's 2nd place also-ran car that they purposely keep underpowered as to not compete with the 991.
Similarly, I feel sad for anyone spending over $90K for a non-S 991. All that money for not the best car?
Why spend all that money for the not-quite-good-enough car? I'd rather spend less money on another marque's flagship car that they didn't try to neuter for marketing/political reasons.
