Default possible to modify stock radio to accept ipod?

i would like to keep stock casette player, however is it possible to have an ipod cable connect to the factory player? if so, where do i send my radio to have it performed?

my 1963 corvette stock radio has the modification to allow ipod cable so i assume somebody can do it to a 993 radio?

I would think it is possible. I know the BMW guys do this to their radios all the time: http://jcrowell.info/bmw-aux-in.html

Give Becker USA a call, they can modify it to accept a iPod cable.

For me the CDR-210 needed an auxiliary input (which it did not have). In 2006 I swapped the CDR-210 for the CDR-220 and used an IceLink. May be more "modern" approaches now, however, but I suspect the lack of input will still be an issue. You could probably buy a 220 and sell the 210 for a net outlay less than a Becker mod. Hope you are successful and post your solution. GL.

depends on what radio you have. I believe for the 210, becker makes a cable that would plug into the remote CD input. On the 220, there is an auxillary input in the back that many make a cable for. Neither will control the iPod, only accept the signal.

Search is your friend, as many have been through this before....

Yes you can with a box that presents ipod as a CD Changer to the radio. It will also allow you to control ipod thru the radio, caveat being that you lose the original changer and are limited to 10 playlists on the ipod. Here's what I've been using for a while.

I used to use one of those, they actually work better than the FM transmitter types, which I found to be rather noisy.

This one supposedly does...but I can't say from personal experience

Keep in mind, you need to leave the CD changer in the car, but it's disabled.

Not sure why they have the following...is there a difference in the CDR-210 after 1998?

1. Compatible with 1999-02 Porsche PCM1, CR-210, CDR-210 and CR-21 Radios WITH CD Changer (CDC-3) option. (Will *NOT* work without a CD Changer)
