Anyone near Libertyville, Illinois?
I'm looking into a car in Libertyville and may need to hire someone to put eyes on it for me. Anyone in the area?

Hey Mark. Turbo? N.A.? Dealer or private party? I may be able to help you. As for a PPI, I'd suggest either Perfect Power (Sol- 847-465-8837) or Fischer Motors (Rick- 847-304-8822). They both know air-cooled Porsches well.

Hi Bill. NA car. How far away are you? I still need to speak with the owner (private) tonight to ask a few questions before deciding to take it to the next step. Of course, my wife and daughter were in Chicago for the past 3 days and just started on their way home before I found the car...
Are those two shops close by?

I'd add Midwest Eurosport to the above list. Brian (owner) at 630-595-5577.
They've maintained my race car for years (ultimate form of trust! ), and have built and maintained many 911s, including 993s. They're very savvy.

Fisher is in Lake Barrington. Perfect Power is in Buffalo Grove. Libertyville is not too far away from either. There's not really another qualified air-cooled indy shop up north. Find out where he took the car. If he went to a dealership, it's probably The Porsche Exchange in Highland Park.
I'm about 35 minutes away from Libertyville.

Thanks Bill. He has owned the car for 11 years and it is a low miler. Seems very nice, but may not be up to my super picky paint finish requirements Price is very good though!

Thanks for the offer! Spoke to the owner and it is not exactly what I am looking for as I want a garage queen...however, for $44k ('97 C2S with 32,000 miles) it is a bargain. Probably needs $500 - $1,000 in detail work to bring it up to snuff. If I could see it personally, I would be all over it, however there is a Local buyer coming to see it this weekend...if you can physically get there before then and you are interested, let me know. The seller will not jump through hoops for a long distance buyer at this price. Nice guy.

I would go with Perfect Power and skip Midwest Eurosport. I had a bad experience with them when I had them inspect a car for me. I could never recommend those guys.
