First post on Rennlist! I just imported a '95 993 from Japan with 55,000 miles and am very pleased with its appearance and performance. There are just a few unique features/items on it that I'm hoping someone here can educate me on. I bought it from an auction site, so I have no information about the previous owners and all service records are in Japanese.
Is this car just fitted with an RS Aero kit, or is this a Carrera RS (M007)?
Where would I find the options that came with the car? I know what the codes mean, I just need to find them on the car.
Can anyone identify the miscellaneous parts below:
Image 1 is on the right side footwell
Image 2 is on the right corner of the dash
Image 3 is in the glove compartment
I lived in Japan for a number of years, and bought a few P cars there. It looks like you have a sunroof, which almost certainly rules out an original RS.
1) Image 1 is the holster for the emergency flare that is mandatory for Japanese cars.
3) Image 3 is most likely the card slot for the automated toll card that the Japanese use for their freeways, in many countries in Asia it is referred to as an "E-Pass" or some similar name. It allows cars to pass toll barriers automatically, and at speed.
Carlos is correct.
I might add you will not find the option code sticker under the hood....Japanese cars almost never had these from factory (from some weird reason).
