Iphone mount for 993
#16
The GPS screen on the iPhone is too small for my old eyes, so I use a Garmin suction cupped to the windshield.
As for an iPhone holder, I use my pocket and bluetooth for iTunes, Pandora, and Cubs games. As for phone calls, that's what voicemail is for. IMHO, phoning and Porsche driving don't mix.

Burning Brakes
Yes it is bolted in.
I did not want to drill anywhere visible in the car so I used the optional L bracket that came with the product and mounted it onto the Support Tunnel Bracket under the drivers side dash.
One problem I had was vibration and by dropping the ash tray on the arm it eliminated this. I use the Garmin (Arkon) suction cup on the clock so this all works for me.

TomTom GPS/iPhone base....w/charge, audio out, etc.
I too have the Porsche console bracket supporting a TomTom GPS/iPhone/mount arrangement as shown in the picture. Now a days, its only the ole 993 which hasn't a factory navi installed....

Race Car
I had the same problem, but went with the tomtom mount anyway. I needed the gps booster for Harry's lap timer on the iPhone for data acquisition.
So I. Let the iPhone connect via Bluetooth from the tomtom for pandora and calls, and have an old 16gb iPod in the glove compartment too for music only....

Three Wheelin'
I use Tom Tom iPHone mount. Does not need tomtom software. Works with Harry's Laptimer pro, supplies power, good windshield suction mount, and has GPS antenna.

The suction mount on the clock is slick, but...how do you guys know what time it is??
No picture, but I have my GPS mounted directly above the rear view mirror with a suction mount, and route the cord over the passenger sun visor so it's out of the way. I'd imagine an iPhone would fit up there nicely as well, plus you pretty much have to be sitting in the car to see that it's there.

I use a 160GB iPod in the glove box playing through my head unit for music. Personally I think a navigation device mounted below your field of view is dangerous as you have to take your eyes completely off the road to see it, much less read. In the 993 I use my 'droid phone mounted to the windshield with suction cup. In our DD we use a bean bag type mount on the dash board.
