Default Part Unavailable

I am replacing some of the door seals/gaskets that are badly worn. Good news on the driver door seal - got the part from Pelican and installed over the weekend. Success.

Now for the problem. The "additional gasket" part# 993 542 096 00 (number 16 from illustration 804-25 in the Porsche Parts schematic) that goes around the window frame and acts as a seal from outside rain/wind from getting in - appears to be unavailable. This is the passenger side gasket. I was able to find the driver side through Pelican... but they said the passenger side is not available. I went down to my local Porsche dealer parts guy that I know and he confirmed the same. Not available, not in any Porsche dealers inventory or Porsche Germany.

He said he would place the order and get it on the list with Porsche and follow up in a week... but did not have much hope. Kind of a wait and see attitude.

Any thoughts? Will Porsche eventually have the part again?

Hopefully these are just back ordered with Porsche's vendor. Perhaps International Mercantile will start making these one day. http://im356-911.com/images/911-912-Catalog.pdf

Hi John,
I have a 1997 C2 Carrera and have been trying to get that gasket for my car for the last few months.
I am after the drivers side (right hand drive), originally checked with the US, no stock, then a few dealers in Australia no stock.
So I check with Porsche Australia no stock and was told no stock in Germany, still kept asking I need the part to be then told that Porsche Germany is looking for another manufacturer, but the part will be available once Porsche find the new manufacturer.
So I guess we will have to wait.

Thanks,
Neil

I think that it will be available from Porsche classic soon. Don't despair. Just prepare your wallet.

Seems like this would be a common replacement part to support body shops ... our cars are getting old I guess. Like me, but even I can get new knees and hips ;-P

No worries - my wallet has been adequately prepared after buying the driver door seal... ouch.

How do I check with Porsche Classic to find out when it will be available.

97 on cars have a different part, it end 05 not 00, maybe it will fit pre 97 cars no problem although the frame is slightly different
