Default OT:Dallas Hailstorm-Hope no RL'ers got caught!

Man, the news clips brought back bad memories. That looked brutal. Used to live in Big D and had just sold my house when the very next week, a hailstorm trashed the cedar shake shingle roof. Fortunately, the new owners' insurance covered it.

Got a new roof after last years hailstorm. Baseball size chunks really did a number on it. Last nights was puny in comparison. Biggest I saw were quarter sized.

There was a hailstorm in Dallas last night? After a hard cardio session at the gym, I'd never slept better.

I guess sometimes it's what you don't know won't hurt you...Yes, big hailstorm according to the a.m. national news. Video showed an aerial view of Dallas turned white, along with cars and trucks being pummeled.

A few months ago you probably saw the tornados that ripped through the Metroplex, lifting trailers and such. What didn't get much news coverage was the hail that came along for the ride... wind damage was fairly localized, but hail damage was quite widespread. A friend with a black 996 had his car parked in the open near DFW airport. I've never seen so much damage on a single car. The bodywork resembled something akin to a golf ball.

Dallas is a big place. Egg sized hail and lots of hail damage in my part of town. We have some roof damage. Luckily, none of our cars were hit but I saw lots of cars driving around afterwards with shattered and busted out windows.

Here are some pics from another forum of a country club a few miles away. Nasty stuff.

It seems that this hailstorm wasn't as widespread as the one we had back in April that also came w/ multiple tornadoes.

A few years ago, when we lived in Highland Village near Lake Lewisville, most of the neighbors houses had to get new roofs and many fences. We were unscathed, so it can be very localized.

Well, this is random. I was watching the local ABC news channel after the NBA finals and they started talking about the hail storm and had some footage, and who would have thought, their coverage included a 993 driving around after the hail storm.

I took a vid of my TV

I was out of town for the storm, but our neighborhood was hit. My LandCruiser sits outside and was damaged, 50+ small dents. My sister in Law was parked outside in her Land Rover, 30+ dents. No window damage. Roof inspector is coming this week. Bummer as I just had it replaced in March. Hopefully the Class 4, impact resistant shingles have held up.

Brian, if that was Royal Oaks CC - my wife just left there prior to the storm. My buddy was still there and moved his MB under the awning. He grabbed 2 valets and the 3 of them were moving as many cars as they could under the awning. Many nice cars were damaged with broken glass and many dents. At least the members can afford good insurance. One lady decided to drive home (!) and totaled her car due to the hail damage at speed.
