Default Parking brake lever copper contact shorting?

I replaced the parking adjuster piece on the other side this past weekend and the adjusting the copper piece on the lever end to make contact with the new part broke off.

Does anyone have a picture of the parking lever end bare down to the metal to see how this copper strip is connected to the lever? I borrowed this picture from "Theothereric." I am thinking about tapping a screw hole to screw a new piece of copper on to the end of the handbrake lever which can be replaced with new copper pieces in the event the copper end breaks off again.

Also, the parking brake light is on all the time now which makes me think its more than just reattaching this copper piece...

Can't help you with a photo as mine is also broken. I just hooked up the wires to a switch so I can operate the top. I'm looking foward to photos of your fix so I can copy it.

i just replaced my e-brake handle yesterday with a CF one. Here's pictures of my original e-brake handle with copper contact. It looks like the contact is somehow snapped in or riveted in. Hard to say. I don't see a way you can use a screw to fasten it to the handle. Hope these pictures help.

This might help. Number 7 is the damaged and is screwed in from the bottom.

I made a piece frtom aluminum and forced a screw into a tight area at the top. It's worked fine for 5 years. Initially planned on getting a "7" (above) but figured if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Thanks CAHRERA. Mine is all screwed up and I now know what the original part is supposed to look like. I didn't want to take the handbrake lever off to fix it after spending the time to adjust the parking brake clicks and just tap a screw in from the top but it looks like I will have to do it to make it right.

flying_low,

Thanks for the diagram. The picture looks like the piece is held to the handbrake lever by rivets and not screwed in. Maybe I can drill out the old copper rivet and replace it with a small flat screw.

Mine has two copper rivets from the bottom which is how they come from the factory.
