Default key blank question

I recently ordered this part 914-531-903-11-M100, which is a Porsche key blank. I took it to get cut and was told it wasn't the same as the original key I have, so they didn't want to cut it. Did I order the right part number? If not, I'm curious to know what I ordered. The gentleman at ACE Hardware said something about the groove on the key was on the opposite side.

TIA!

The part number for the black master key should be: 914.531.903.10

I like the simplicity of it and have used one for years. Purchased from Ebay or Sunset, and cut at my local Ace for $1.50.

You have the valet key, it can still be cut to work. Originally supplied to much earlier cars and would work doors and ignition only, not glove box or trunk

Andreas - I believe the difference in our part numbers is that your key has a black head and the one I purchased is red.

Pervy - I'm fairly certain the key would work as well. It slides into the ignition just fine, so I'll get it cut this weekend and hopefully all will be good.

thanks guys!

Gnome,
The plain key with the molded-on black plastic head is the 'master' key.

The plain key with the molded-over red plastic head is the 'valet' key.

Thank you for that tidbit of information!
