Dont really care about the name brand (trust me they are all the same and meet the same specs), just interested in grades used.

OEM factory fill is based on best price on the RFQ nothing else. I work for one of the majors.

Use what the owner's manual says. Seriously.

Hi,

i use this oil (also for "summer only"):

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-68899-fu...ngine-oil.aspx

there is no need to change the oil every 5000kms ....

I use M1 15W 50 and because it is so cheap at Walmart, I change it at least annually, for me DE car 2-3 times / year depending on the use.

I bought my car in September and it had Euro 5-50 synthetic. I sourced the same oil from where the PO had the oil change done, it was about $15 a quart!
I have a case of Brad Penn 20W-50 left over from my 89 Carrera ownership. Should I go ahead and switch back to my traditional use of 20W50 Brad Penn or is 20W50 just not appropriate for this car?
Seriously, I have no user manual and am not quite sure if I should go 20w-50, 5w50 OR 0w50.

The Brad Penn is a good choice. Keep in mind, it is not a full synthetic.

Brad Penn 20w-50 is my top choice and is what I prefer over even M1 for my car. In your area, you may consider a lighter weight Brad Penn depending on the temperature scale in the manual.

Wow. I have been playing mechanic on my cars for twenty years and have not heard of Brad Penn. I use 15W-50 Mobile One. With an engine that expensive, I fear taking any chances on anything other than what Porsche recommends. I wasn't trying to be a smarty-pants with my previous post, just in case. It was late when I replied. Looking at it this morning, it looks kind of rude. Sorry.

You may want to look up on the ZDDP issue and pre-mature wear. It led me to BP which is cheaper than M1 Vtwin and is a good quality oil
