Default toying with an idea....

I've been thinking about smoking out the mid section of my rear tail lights. I have never seen it done before but I like how it reminds me of the original 911.

This is a CRUDE photoshop rendition. The way Im thinking about is, black but NOT completely black...sort of really dark so that it ties in well with lights.

But I donk know if Im bold enough for something like that.....

I dun'no - actually - I kind'a like it? My rear panel is cracked and faded - and when I checked prices on replacements - I could have bought a new garage lift for about the same (actually - a new garage - the hell with only a lift?! )??

Anyway - you guys in the west slay me.... Any more shots of the intermodal train passing? I'm guessing it's a BNSF???

I tried to find a prior thread on this subject, but can't seem to....one of these has been posted before coming from FleaBay. It just didn't look...right. But on a black car, who knows.

Paint your grille a nice glossy black while you're at it.

IMO - It looks better red and differentiates the car from the newer 911s. Especially in black. Leave it red.

Mmm, not so much I think. I remember when the 996 C4S came with the red insert between the lights and thought that was a nice improvement.

I would stick with the original but I guess sometimes you just need change.

Here is a RUF with the black out centre piece. So on black it could work if done right.

Thanks Knight for posting that RUF video...I truly like it, especially with the exposed reverse gear white lights. Its sweet.

I'll have to continue giving it some thought. Thanks everybody for your feedback!

I like it. Looks similar to the sexy new 991 rear tailights. No affiliation but, ive used various degrees of tint rolls from rvinyl.com, perhaps a way you could experiment with tints without making it permanant.

I was thinking the same as Sander about using vinyl or dark window tint to experiment with. Cheap and easy to remove.

While I like the red section better, my main thought is to consider what happens when you decide you don't like it anymore. A good center reflector goes for $350-$500 used. I have an extra in good shape, other than being faded, that I might part with. Aside from painting one like that, I would think vinyl would be the best route.

I always want to change everything, just because I'm wired that way (just look at these photo of my car's ***) and I understand you do whatever YOU like and that's the way it always should be but since you asked for an opinion, this is one thing I wouldn't change.

i think on a dark car, or silver testing the waters with a window tint across that piece would be awesome thing to try out.

The clear plastic reflector on our cars screams 80's! it reminds me of the ones that were on the 944's (nothing wrong with that )

ive often wondered what it would look like if it was painted to match the body...
