Schwingggggg!

I would luuuvv to do the 9m mods, but I hear the reprogramming of the ECU is a trick on this side of the pond.

And if you really want, you can get these cars down to 2600 lbs. or less if you want, as well.

Stock seats can weigh 50-60 lbs each, and you can get nice replacements that weigh 20 lbs. (or less) each., for example. That's 60-75 lbs. off right there, at least.

Also, you could stand to lose a few pounds too, no?

All, much cheaper, and very similar results, to making an engine more powerful.

A 300 hp engine in a car that weighs around 3000 pounds is a pretty sweet combination.
Well, yes and no. I've got the data to support my contention that it's not as much as you think. (My cars, and access to a friend's front-line Spec 911 saddled with "Trophy Weight.")

I can't speak for what "460HP" in an otherwise normal weight 993 would be, but I've posted video of my car v. regeared GT3 and GT3RS; and up the front straight at Thunderhill it's 7-10 MPH trap speed before the T1 braking zone. So you've spent what for 5 car lengths. 5 car lengths usually gotten back by the time we're entering T2, if not exiting T1..........

Ultimately, I've been around these things long enough (on the build end for customers and the drive end for myself) to know that I'm striving for reliability 10 times out of 10.

I would think the author of post #2 here has built a few high HP 993 motors?

You should check out the 964 forum to see what the author-for-post-#2 has just achieved with the author-for-post-#9's car - 335 rwhp from a basically stock engine, in a 2350 lb car. Fantastic, and completely true to the Porsche 911 ethos. High HP/displacement for the sake of bragging rights or drag-racing isn't true to the 911 philosophy, IMHO.

I think Steve is pretty humble and more prone to discuss this with you in person.

Default Heresy...but how about Renegade Hybrids..

..an aluminum block LS3 or LS7 Corvette engine install? Lots of reliable and cheap HP! See Grassroots Motorsports, December 2011 for the details.

My deepest apologies,.....I was simply trying to maintain my objectivity & integrity and one big way to do that is by not selling anything,...

Now,..if you want just one example to look at, here you go. Call me for details.

For less than the price of a GT3 engine, the one above will out pull the water pumper, offers enough throttle response and torque that a GT3RS has no chance digging out of a corner with it, blasts pass a modified 930 and has a soundtrack to die for.

Absolutely streetable and oil temps (on a 90+ degree day) remained at 185 (driven very hard).

Zoom...

Car won two consecutive Porsche Club GB Speed Championships & set class records at Brands Hatch (by 5 seconds), Anglesey (by 4s), Goodwood (by 5s over 996GT3RS), Cadwell Park, Croft & Three Sisters circuits; Prescott, Harewood & Loton Park hillclimbs. Records set in 2006/7, all still standing.

Power graph of same engine against remapped 996GT3RS, tested on the same dyno, under the same conditions, both corrected to DIN standards.

At the end of the day Kai you can believe in whatever you want to believe in as there are always more ways than one to achieve your objectives; by the look of it you have a great engine and I hope you enjoy it.

Colin, that's a wonderful engine in a wonderful car. I'm back about 0.33 seconde from 50 to 60 and from 60 to 70 - with a short tranny.

My statements are only cautionary in that many of us get far to wrapped up in hp figures from different dynos on differing days from differing shops. The data are virtually meaningless when thus compared.

The engine is part of a package which begins at the driver's feet, butt and hands - and ends at the tire patch - damn sure don't need to tell you this.

My car was built around me, my race classes and my future for the next two to three years. It works wonderfully, but I have to stop sliding it around. Lot's of fun, of course, but I'm overheating tires far to quickly!!!

Cheers, KB

How much to do the 3.9 and 4.0 , without shipping to U.K., in US dollars?
Thanks
