Big power 993 engines
So I'm daydreaming about the rebuild of my engine one day, and of course, the dream would be to send it over to 9m for the treatment. Who over here on this side of the pond does big HP reliable 993 engine builds?

There are several high-quality, experienced engine builders here in the US who can provide a big HP, reliable engine and I would encourage you to check around.
I would also advise you to make sure everyone's claims are done with the same type of measuring system and if you really want/need big power, be prepared with a realistic budget to do this.

Personal friend owns SERIES9 (www.914rs.com) over in Deland, FL just outside of Daytona. He has a Varioram 3.6 in a 914-GT conversion, has done multiple builds, just did a 3.2->3.4 rebuild, experienced with TEC ignitions, etc. Its a small shop but he prides himself it doing quality work. Its worth talking to him since he is at least semi-local to you.

I am curious as to what kind of budget we are talking about here. I am not looking for a price quote just some very rough ballpark numbers. Of course, those numbers would grow for bigger power. I will admit I am not even sure what is possible with 993 engine in terms of HP/torque numbers.
I get wood just thinking about it.

I got that much power from my 4.0 GT3 and the water-cooled GT3 engines are a much better starting point.

Once again, please approach hp numbers with caution. Dyno numbers can vary all over the place, and extrapolations from rolling roads don't equal real bhp which won't equal results from dynojets when extrapolated backwards.
Be prepared to spend.

A much cheaper and often overlooked way to increase power (in a way), is to put your car on a diet. It's pretty easy and inexpensive to knock 100-200 lbs. off these cars without sacrificing any comfort/driveability. And if you really want, you can get these cars down to 2600 lbs. or less if you want, as well.
Stock seats can weigh 50-60 lbs each, and you can get nice replacements that weigh 20 lbs. (or less) each., for example. That's 60-75 lbs. off right there, at least.
Also, you could stand to lose a few pounds too, no?
All, much cheaper, and very similar results, to making an engine more powerful.
A 300 hp engine in a car that weighs around 3000 pounds is a pretty sweet combination.

I find that squinting slightly under hard accelerations, causes the landscape to blur. That creates the illusion of rapid acceleration.
It works just as long as there are no 300hp hybrid Camry's or other such lower mechanical forms running about at the same time.
The thought of having to spend $50-60K on a normally aspiriated motor to actually produce the same sensation, is just lost on me.
Ummm, wouldn't it just be easier and cheaper, to sell the normally aspirated car and get a TT?
just saying.......
